How to solve the chipping problem after glass grinding?

①Burr on the upper edge; ②Burr on the lower edge; ③Glass damaged by grinding wheel

1. Specific Phenomena of the Problem
①Edge chipping on the upper edge; ②Edge chipping on the lower edge; ③Grinding wheel damaging the glass

2. Causes and Solutions
①Cause: Excessive glass edge allowance or excessively fast conveying speed.
Solution: It is recommended to reduce the glass allowance by 1-2mm per side. Adjust the conveying speed of the belt according to the glass thickness.

②Cause: The glass did not enter along the fixed edge guide wheel, causing the grinding wheel to damage the glass on one side.
Solution: Re-adjust the fixed edge and moving edge guide wheels.

③Cause: The angle of the diamond wheel is incorrect (i.e., rear-foot grinding).
Solution: The front foot of the grinding wheel excessively cuts the lower edge of the glass, causing chipping on the lower edge, while the rear foot cuts the upper edge of the glass, causing chipping on the upper edge (the direction of the glass entering is the front foot, and the direction of the glass exiting is the rear foot).

④Cause: The grinding wheel used has quality problems, resulting in poor cutting force and excessive grinding noise. In addition, the grinding ratio of the grinding head is not adjusted properly.
Solution: Replace the grinding wheel and re-adjust the grinding wheel cutting ratio.

⑤Cause: The cooling water pipe is blocked, the cooling water is not directed to the grinding point, or the cooling water is insufficient, resulting in insufficient water pressure and inability to cool the grinding wheel.
Solution: Remove debris and glass powder from the water pump, distribution pipe, and grinding wheel water pipe.

⑥Cause: Damage to the motor bearing of the grinding head or excessive bearing clearance causes radial and axial vibration of the grinding wheel.
Solution: Replace the damaged or excessively loose motor bearings in time.

⑦Cause: The rough grinding base has loosened due to prolonged equipment use, causing vibration during the glass cutting process.
Solution: Secure the fastening screws on the side of the motor base to ensure that the motor slide moves smoothly without vibration.

⑧Cause: Positioning malfunction breaks the glass.
Solution: Debug the photoelectric sensor or limit switch.

3. Preventive Measures
①Before grinding glass each shift, raise the clamping frame to a certain height, check if the water pipe is correctly positioned at the grinding point, turn on the water pump, and check if the water pipe is unobstructed and the water pressure is sufficient.
②Before batch processing glass of different thicknesses, use a piece of glass with the same thickness as the glass to be processed to confirm the cutting ratio of the grinding head. Check if there is any chipping on the upper and lower edges.
